Sado (Tea Ceremony) class at Zenshuji began when one of the Sunday School classrooms was converted into an authentic tearoom in 1976. Today the tearoom is used regularly by the Urasenke, Omotesenke, and the Edosenke schools, which help
introduce the tea ceremony to the public in Southern California and across the nation.
Students not only learn about green tea, the utensils, and method of preparation, they
also learn about traditional attire, etiquette, and the spiritual nature that underlies the
entire ceremony.
